FLOWBIO × Wahoo — Partnership Overview
Sweat is Data.
Decode it together.
The FLOWBIO Sensor brings laboratory-grade sweat analysis to Wahoo's ecosystem. Real-time fluid and sodium loss, measured on the athlete, delivered where they train.
The Product
FLOWBIO Sensor
The world's most accurate wearable sweat sensor. Independently validated, peer reviewed, and published in Frontiers in Physiology. Measures fluid and sodium loss in real time, translating raw sweat data into personalised hydration strategy through Advanced Hydration Intelligence (AHi®).

FAQ
The FLOWBIO Sensor captures your sweat and analyses its contents. Proprietary algorithms use the sensor data to estimate your sweat rate and sodium loss. Results are shown in the FLOWBIO App, with recovery and preparation guidance to help you optimise performance.
The FLOWBIO System provides the following metrics:
- Total body sweat rate per hour (L/hr or oz/hr)
- Total body water loss (litres or ounces)
- Total body sodium loss (grams or ounces)
- Total body sodium concentration (mg/L or mg/oz)
The FLOWBIO System currently supports cycling, running, and walking. Further sports will be added as the platform develops. Contact us at team@flowbio.com for enquiries about additional modalities.
The FLOWBIO Sensor is designed to attach to an existing heart rate monitor. It supports both optical arm-based monitors and chest straps, giving athletes the flexibility to wear it on the upper arm or across the back.
The Sensor is swim-friendly with an IP65 water resistance rating. Sweat rate and sodium loss data during swimming is currently in development and is not yet available.
Our latest data has indicated that we are 90% accurate in lab based conditions. In the field we achieve accuracies up to 83% for sodium with as little as 180mg difference. Fluid loss is 73% accurate with as little as 250ml difference to in-field gold standards. The independent validation study was published in Frontiers in Physiology and led by David Bandiera with an international team of sport science researchers.
The FLOWBIO Sensor has a battery life of 100+ hours. It charges via a standard USB-C cable.
No. There are no subscriptions or monthly fees associated with the FLOWBIO System. The purchase price covers full access.
Athletes can exercise without a phone nearby. A phone is required to sync the Sensor and view session data afterwards. The FLOWBIO System integrates with Garmin, Wahoo, Zwift, and Coros.
The FLOWBIO Sensor is fully reusable with no single-use components. A simple rinse under a tap after use is all that is required to maintain accuracy and functionality.
No. The FLOWBIO Sensor does not use a needle. Sweat is collected through a small micro-channel using the natural pressure exerted by your sweat glands — no skin penetration of any kind.
